Enhancing an experience through
minimalist print design.

Opened in December 2024 in West End, Brisbane, +81 Aizome Bar is an intimate, high-end Japanese drinking den and lounge. Named Gourmet Traveller’s Bar of the Year, the moody, 10-seat venue is celebrated for its precise hospitality, seasonal tasting menus, and avant-garde, multi-day crafted "neo-cocktails."

Working together with the venue sommelier, I designed an extensive sake menu printed on an artisinal washi paper medium imported directly from Japan.

Design Concept

I heavily emphasised a high-class approach to create a sake menu which understands the audience it was for. The generous margins and mixed character orientations helped cater for both Japanese and English readers with a focus on Japanese elements first to help build the immersive experience.
